Don’t want to give up the sweets for you wedding but can’t bear to spend $300-$500 for a cake? Fire up the ovens! Making you’re own desserts can be a great way to save some money. If you are worried about time, I would suggest having some friends over for a baking party! Have a little wine, some laughs and some baking. There are several things you can do to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth at the wedding. Such as:
Capcakes! These are easy to make and are great for the big day! You don’t have to worry about cutting anything for the guests. You can make different flavors and cary the decorations for a little fun.
Candy Station. Remember what it was like being a kid in a candy store? Give you guests that same feeling of fun! You can set up all your favorite candies in glass containers and let your guests have at it.
If you want to go traditional with a cake but still save a little $$$. Try your local grocery store. I know Publix does AMAZING cakes and prices are quite reasonable. You can also look into the local culinary schools! Here in the Atlanta area we have La Cord on Bleu and Art Intistute of Atlanta Culinary schools.
You could even go with a new trend (that the guys especially love!) and have a doughnut cake!
Personally I’m going with a mixture! Small cake made by a friend who is attending the Atlanta Art Institue for Baking and Pastry, and then I will be making some of my favorite Fall desserts (with the help of my friends). Apple crisp, apple pie, pumpkin spice loaf, and conolis will be on the menu that night. Then we’re ending the night with smores and spiked hot coffee/cocoa!
Whatever you decide to do it will be the cherry on top of your wedding with the sweet savings you’ll LOVE!
